There is nothing like the unique taste and texture of fresh figs: crunchy seeds, sweet flesh, soft skin….Generally I just eat figs raw, on a salad, or on a slice of bread, rarely in cakes. But let’s admit, figs are such amazing fruits! Raw, cooked, baked…whatever. This one is a wonderful way to eat your figs, too. You will totally love this simple fig jam!
This fig jam recipe is super fast, requires about 2 minutes of preparing and 15 minutes of cooking. You can make this recipe with a lot of figs and put them away for the winter. I just used 4 medium figs as a side dish for a wine dinner. But you can use it as any other sweet jam too, on your toast or oatmeal.
enough for a small jar
4 medium figs
1 Tbsp maple syrup
1 Tsp thyme
half cup of orange juice
1. Cut the figs into small cubes, place them in a pan with all the other ingredients.
2. On a medium heat cook the figs for about 15 minutes, or until they reach a jam consistency.
3. Serve them on crackers with cashew cheese and rucola, or as a salad dressing with oil/water/orange juice. Enjoy!
