Honeydew Smoothie Bowl

This berry, mint and honeydew smoothie bowl is just perfect for starting your day.

Honeydew Smoothie Bowl

Please don’t ask me why I felt I had to make, photograph, then even post such an extremely kitschy recipe. I really don’t know why. But I feel ashamed too. Probably I just spend too much time on Instagram and Pinterest…it’s dangerous. However, this smoothie bowl is delicious, nutritious and makes an awesome breakfast or afternoon snack, so it’s actually a pretty good bowl.

Ok, to be honestΒ I know what made me make a bowl like this. I got a melon baller from my parents a while ago. I thought I’ll never use it, but then one day IΒ woke up feeling an extreme urge to use it right that moment. So I went to a nearby supermarket and got a melon.Β Cut it in half and started to scoop. Oh my goodness, that satisfaction I felt while scooping that melon, I can’t even explain it to you…..and that’s all it took to get addicted to a melon baller. True story.

For a week or two I was busy making those balls every single day for after dinner snacks, then my boyfriend once casually mentioned, that he thinks it’s kinda stupid, because it takes so much time to use the melon baller but it doesn’t give anything extra (according to him, pfff). He said something like: it’s okay to use it in certain situations, when it makes sense, so it looks nice, etc.,…..and from here on I didn’t listen anymore. Okay, so you need something pretty, right? Then you get something pretty. Please don’t think I can’t make mega pretty things with the melon baller. You will get the prettiest creation ever with melon balls.

Unfortunately I didn’t manage to makeΒ the prettiest creation ever,Β but I managed to make a borderline pretty bowl, which is good enough for me. However, it tastes amazing, summery and refreshing, so I’m happy at the end.

Of course, you can make thisΒ recipe without the melon bowls and drink it as a smoothie without all the crazy and unnecessary decoration, but what would be life without the decoration, right? This recipe would then only take about 3 minutes to make, but instead this way you can play with it for 15-20 minutes. So enjoy and have fun (and please don’t judge)!

Seriously? I always struggle with food names in english πŸ˜€
I bought this one here as “yellow honeydew melon”, I thought it’s simply honeydew in english too….hahaha, but I won’t change it anymore πŸ˜€
      P.S. get a melon baller, it’s life changing πŸ˜‰

This is almost a work of art! You could easily serve it for dessert! And I love edible bowls. Also I’m putting my comment here as a reply because I wanted to say, this is called a rockmelon in Australia but I ALWAYS call it a honeydew because I can’t remember which one is which. so you’re not alone! haha.
I think I’m going to have to buy a melon baller next time I go to the shops πŸ˜€

Hahaha, thank you so much, Hannah!
I definitely always struggle with fruit/veggie names. I actually only call it melon (I also call honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, galia, etc. simply melon), it causes some problem sometimes. πŸ˜€ I do that with squashes too, I call everything simply pumpkin. I guess it comes from my Hungarian, there you use simply one name for everything, then you can additionally specify it if you want – I don’t.
And yay for edible bowls! I love them all!!

I think it looks fab and I love the idea of using the melon. I noticed that the simple recipes are popular as well, maybe because they give an idea and that is important too.

“Oh my goodness, that satisfaction I felt while scooping that melon, I can’t even explain it to you…..and that’s all it took to get addicted to a melon baller. True story.” BEST. LINES. EVER. Evi, you had me cracking up so hard over here! Alright, let’s admit, we’ve all been there with these kitchen toys. Why are they SO friggin satisfying? WHY?? Who knows and who cares. I personally did not find this recipe kitschy at all! I LOVED it! Does that make me kitschy? Matters not to me. Lol. As long as someone’s having fun, it’s all good. πŸ™‚ And btw, I totally agree that melon balls are super pretty. I mean, have you seen the ridiculously amazing creations that people have made with these fruit balls? It’s crazy! <–aka AWESOME. Alright, I'm just gonna go ahead and hope that you come up with another kickass melon ball recipe. Just sayin'. πŸ˜‰
Hope you have a great weekend dear! No work, right? πŸ˜‰ Pinning this!

Oh, and those kitchen gadgets! I feel so lame sometimes, but I can get extra excited for such stupid things, I don’t know why. It’s totally ridiculous!
At least this makes my family’s and friends’ life easier. Because it doesn’t take too much effort to make me happy πŸ˜€

Girl, you are NOT lame at all!! Did I tell you, my sister got me an angled spatula and I ended up using it on everything!! It was like, how cool is this thing? And don’t even get me started on my 1 tablespoon scoop–I was scooping almond butter, nice cream, cereal (yep)… Lol.
Awesome! It’s the little thing in life, ya know? πŸ™‚

I got a melon scooper thing for my birthday a few months ago, but never used it. After reading the post and the comments, I feel like I have to use it immediately. I even got a honeydew here, so that is what we are having for breakfast tomorrow. πŸ™‚
