Easy vegan Jalapeño Popper Roll Ups are great little snacks.
These vegan Jalapeño Popper Roll Ups or jalapeño popper pinwheels, if you prefer, are perfect for snacking and sharing. They taste a lot like a good ol’ jalapeño popper, the only difference is the shape. Plus that they are a lot easier and quicker to make than a regular jalapeño popper. Sounds good, doesn’t?
If you like jalapeño poppers, you have to try this recipe. These Jalapeño Popper Roll Ups taste like eating jalapeño popper wrapped in a little tortilla. Or in other words: really good!
Jalapeño poppers are super delicious. If there was someone, who would make me vegan jalapeño poppers every day, I’d eat jalapeño poppers every day. But because I have to make it myself, it’s a treat that I’m only willing to make 1-2x a year.
Luckily I figured out a way to satisfy my jalapeño popper cravings without lots of work. The answer is of course Jalapeño Popper Roll Ups!
What I love about this recipe is that it takes no more than 15-20 minutes to put together, and you can easily make as many roll ups as you want. So feed a crowd if you want, or just make a few extra rolls as a quick snack for later.
Jalapeño Popper Roll Ups are ridiculously easy to make. You make a jalapeño cream, using your favorite cream cheese and some chopped jalapeño. Use homemade (try this, this, or this) or store-bought, whatever you prefer. And of course adjust the amount of jalapeños depending on how spicy you like it.
Then toast some bread crumbs, and flavor them to your likings. Onion and garlic is always a great choice, but paprika, smoked paprika, or cumin can work as well.
Spread jalapeño cream cheese over the tortillas and sprinkle with bread crumbs. Play around with the ratio, if you want things more ‘wet or ‘dry’. And feel free to add extra shredded vegan cheese, or chopped nuts, or whatever else you fancy.
Once you roll up the tortillas tightly, it’s best to wrap them and keep in the fridge for a few hours, so they hold together. Don’t try to slice them immediately, because they won’t hold together. You can use plastic wrap or as I did, a reusable (not bee)wax wrap. Or try parchment paper, or even a thin cheese cloth could work.
After a few hours in the fridge, slice these babies into whatever thin or thick roll ups you like. I like Jalapeño Popper Roll Ups without any sauce, but you can also offer some tomato sauce, or extra mayo for dipping.
