This dried tomato hummus is just a quick idea how to spice up your favorite hummus recipe. Just add some tomatoes and fresh basil to the chickpeas and tahini to get an amazing and rich flavor. It’s a perfect dip for healthy snacking or to make a morning toast. Or just add a large tablespoon to your salad for a thick and filling dressing. With hummus you just can’t go wrong.
I have never met anybody, who doesn’t love hummus. I guess it’s because hummus is the best food ever, right? I love to make a big portion of hummus every week, so I can snack on it anytime throughout the week. Just put it in a big jar and you will always have something to grab when you feel hungry. And don’t tell me there is anything better than dipping carrot sticks or crackers in a big bowl of hummus while watching some stupid series! I know it’s lame, but such things make me so happy 🙂

Hi there..this is a great idea..do you mean sun dried tomatoes? Have wanted to make that kind of hummus for a while..do you soak the tomatoes before you blend them?

Hey,
yes, sorry, I meant sun-dried tomatoes, or oven-dried, whatever you’ve got 🙂
I used now the type which is in olive oil and added the same oil to the hummus, so it didn’t need to be soaked. But if you have the dry types, then yes, I would suggest you to soak them, otherwise it is too difficult to blend them.
Or the third option when you are making your own dried tomatoes that you add them to the hummus when they are still semi-dry. Unfortunately it is not an option for me now, have to wait until summer! 🙂
